The Legacy of Dr. King

Dr. John W. King was an outstanding person and orthodontist. He practiced in the Chesterfield community for more than 25 years, and treated thousands of patients. He is remembered for his professional acumen, attention to detail, compassion, and kindness to his patients and their families.

John was highly regarded by his professional colleagues. He published papers in the orthodontic journals, was active in many professional organizations, and was nationally recognized for establishing new techniques of orthodontic treatment. John was active in the community and was passionate about giving back through volunteer work.

He was a doting father and husband as well as a loyal friend who maintained many lifelong friendships. These people enjoyed his camaraderie, his good humor, and his kindness. John was an understated gentleman and often did not share his many accomplishments. Those whose lives he touched, he enriched.

John’s sudden passing in December 2017 left a community with a feeling of overwhelming loss. John is wholly missed by his friends, patients, employees, colleagues, and his loving family.

In the months that followed his passing, four of John’s friends and fellow dentists came together with a common goal: to continue the John King legacy. His practice was purchased and renamed King Orthodontics. Dr. Julia Durham, John King’s mentee and close friend, has continued to treat his patients with compassion, kindness, and a high standard of care ... just as he always had.

We hope you chose King Orthodontics for all your orthodontic needs, and help us keep the John King legacy alive.
